OAKLAND, Calif. - Approaching his fourth birthday, Jackson
Hairston already knows what his dad does for a living. "He tells
everybody that hes a baseball player, too, said Jerry Hairston Jr.,
which only is natural. Hairston Jr.s father, uncle and grandfather
were major-leaguers, and the Yankee utility man had just come back
from lunch Tuesday afternoon with brother Scott, the Athletics
cleanup hitter. My nephews are the same way, Hairston Jr. said
before Tuesday nights Yankees-Athletics game. Its just amazing.
Already on this road trip, Hairston Jr. has started games at third
base, left field and center field, and he subbed at shortstop Monday
