Skylar Powell went 13 years without any trips to the emergency
room, a feat his mother found impressive considering his active
lifestyle.
Veronica Harris-Powell often bragged about her son, who
participated in sports like football, basketball, golf and motocross
racing.
"He's a pretty active kid, and I had just said, 'I can't believe
we've gone 13 years without a broken bone or a stitch,'" she said.
"I should've never said that."
She jokingly said she regrets the bragging because Skylar has
ended up in the hospital on three separate occasions this summer
alone.
Since June, the eighth-grader at Spencer Middle School has
suffered from a broken bone, a gash in the leg and a copperhead
snake ...
