Heavier lambs lost $5 to $7 a head, otherwise the prime lamb market was steady at livestock sales at Canterbury Agricultural Park, in Christchurch, this week.

Heavy lambs made $130 to $140 with the odd sale to $144.

In the store lamb market, prices were much the same as last week with better lambs making from $95 to $100 and the odd sale to $106.

Prime ewes were steady with heavy ewes earning between $72 and $77 and the odd sale extending to $80.

Good demand followed the prime cattle market with heavy steers at 170c/kg to 180c.

Store steers and heifers sold at similar rates with cattle making 180c/kg to 205c.
