CAMPAIGNERS fighting controversial proposals for a gasfired power
station on a green field site have won support from council
planners.
Blythe Park Power wants to build the Pounds 400 million plant at
an industrial estate, pictured, near Blythe Bridge.
Families fear the plant, capable of generating enough electricity
to power 1.8 million homes, would have a devastating effect on the
villages.
Now Staffordshire Moorlands District Council has told the
developer that the proposed station would have an unacceptable
visual impact on the countryside.
The proposals involve creating a 1,000 megawatt plant near to the
Blythe Park industrial park, in Sandon Road, Cresswell, with
