Shock, disbelief and sadness rippled through Palo Alto on
Saturday, as news spread that a 13-year-old girl stepped in front of
a Caltrain on Friday night and was killed in the same place two
other teens died last spring.
"We are saddened beyond belief," said Joan Jacobus, a member of
the Palo Alto PTA council.
Police did not identify the victim, who had attended Barron Park
Elementary and Terman Middle School and would have started at Gunn
High School as a ninth-grader on Tuesday.
The girl apparently walked into the path of an oncoming
southbound train about 10:45 p.m., said Caltrain spokeswoman
Christine Dunn. Motorists who were stopped at the crossing saw her
step out onto the track but ...
