A PENSIONER who "miraculously" survived a 50ft plunge down a
ravine in his car was saved because he was driving a tiny hatchback,
police have said.
Owen McKee, 72, was driving his Toyota Yaris on the A85 at
Glenogle Head, near Lochearnhead, Perthshire, when it left the
carriageway on a bend and dropped down a steep bank.
The car plunged down the ravine, bouncing off the cliff, before
landing in water and rolling on its side. Mr McKee was trapped for
more than an hour.
A fellow motorist who had been driving behind the Yaris noticed
Mr McKee's car had disappeared and went back to investigate. He saw
part of the bumper on the road and spotted Mr McKee's car in the
ravine.
