YAKIMA, Wash. -- The West Valley School Board election is still a
close call, but updated election results indicate that Larry Osburn
will face incumbent Michael Carey in the Nov. 3 general election.
It was unclear Tuesday night who would challenge Carey in the
race. But with more last-minute voters' ballots counted Wednesday,
Osburn was beating out candidate Steve Smith by 22 votes.
Osburn's lead on Tuesday had been 20 votes.
With most of the votes now counted, Carey received 1,696 votes,
while Osburn had 1,100 votes and Smith had 1,078 votes.
Timothy Andis earned 1,043 votes. He made some gains Wednesday
and was trailing Osburn by 57 votes, compared with 88 on Tuesday.
