THOUGH SCOT Lehigh may have a valid point about the drowning out
of more rational voices and opinions, he shouldn't assume this
doesn't happen at New England town hall meetings and public
hearings, too ("When the kooks take the stage," op-ed, Aug. 14). For
instance, at the Cape Wind hearings last year, if the opposing side
did not like what you had to say (which was invariably true) or you
talked several seconds too long they would boo you, yell insults, or
scream "Time!" They even yelled insults at old ladies and me - an
eighth-grader at the time. Besides, you never know who has kooky
ideas. I have had people ask me if I have seen someone get shot just
because I am black and live in the ...
