Article: Baseball cards provide memories, not millions

I started collecting baseball cards when I was 11, and one of my favorites at the time was Jose Canseco's 1986 Topps rookie card. I bought it for $2 at a baseball card show.

I was obsessed with baseball cards and the Beckett Baseball Card Monthly, and was convinced that Canseco -- or some other up- andcoming star -- would make me millions one day.

I bought binders and alphabetized my cards by team, then by player. The checklists I didn't have I'd write out on loose-leaf paper. I also bought 1,000 plastic individual sleeves to keep my "valuable" cards protected.
