GenVec's SBIR grant

GenVec Inc., of Gaithersburg, announced it received a $2.5 million Small Business Innovation and Research grant from the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases of the National Institutes of Health. Funds from the three-year grant will be used to develop novel cell lines related to new adenovector- based vaccines and therapeutics, the company said. Adenovectors are gene transfer systems that can be used to deliver genes into cells in order to direct the production of therapeutic proteins at the site of disease.
