Article: Pottery class brings teen girls together for charity 'Teens for Empty Bowls' at Lake Country Fine Arts is about more than just clay molding

You could be forgiven for thinking that the whole point of the "Teens for Empty Bowls" class at the Lake Country Fine Arts School and Gallery is for teen girls to, well, make empty bowls.

Visit the class once, however, and you realize that it's about much more than just creating the pottery that will be donated to Milwaukee Empty Bowls, an annual event that raises funds for local food and hunger programs.

What's special about the class is the girls themselves. About half of the 11 girls who have been coming together most Wednesday afternoons this summer have some kind of special need. The rest of the girls come from the more "mainstream" student population at Arrowhead High ...
