Oconomowoc -- Brennan's Market will open its newest store
Thursday near Pabst Farms, bringing the Brookfield-based chain to a
total of five stores.
It's a long way from the humble fruit stand that Frank Brennan
opened in Monroe in 1942.
The new store is located in a 25,000-square-foot building
equipped with energy-saving features such as a roof system that
recycles rain water to water plants, solar panels, a venting system
that transfers heat from the greenhouse to the inside of the
building in spring and fall, and another system that sends heat
thrown by the refrigeration system to produce hot water.
But the focus is still on selling the best fruit, cheese and
wine.
