Isabella N. Montgomery, 89, a reference librarian for George
Washington University's Gelman Library from the early 1970s until
2005, died July 26 at her home in Washington of congestive heart
failure.
She was born Isabella French Nutt in Bronx, N.Y. She was a 1941
graduate of Wellesley College in Massachusetts and received a
master's degree in library science from Columbia University in 1967.
During World War II, she worked for Wright Aeronautical Corp. in
Paterson, N.J., as an engine tester of military aircraft.
She was a librarian at a junior high school in Ridgewood, N.J.,
before moving to Washington in 1970. She volunteered in the White
House from the late 1970s to about 2005 answering ...
