As metro Milwaukee strives to become a leader in water
technology, it's significant that Singapore -- which already brands
itself as a "global hydrohub" -- keeps placing big orders with one
area water engineering company.
Brown Deer-based Sanitaire, a subsidiary of ITT Corp., makes
equipment that bubbles oxygen to grow microorganisms that clean
wastewater. "We are the largest in the world at what we do," said
Kenneth George, general manager of ITT Sanitaire.
Acquired by ITT 10 years ago, Sanitaire is in growth mode, George
said. One indicator: the orders from Singapore, which recently
awarded Sanitaire its fifth multimillion-dollar water treatment
project in 15 years.
