JERSEY CITY - In a symbolic nod to one of golf's most historic moments, the United States Golf Association will bring the 2013 US Amateur to The Country Club in Brookline, Mass., the Globe has learned.

An official announcement is expected to come today from Tulsa, Okla., where this year's US Amateur is being played. But contracts have been signed, dates have been selected (Aug. 19-25), and officials from both The Country Club and Charles River Country Club - a second course is needed the first two days - notified their members yesterday.
