Article: Teen's 'quite astonishing' lyric poem put to music; To a sister; You just can't see it

Not only has a Christchurch teenager won a national poetry contest, her winning words have been put to music by Opshop's Jason Kerrison.

Two Christchurch students took prizes at the 2009 New Zealand Post National Schools Poetry Awards, in Wellington last night. One of their winning works was an ode to a sister, the other was a poem about a teenage girl's struggle for identity..

Charlotte Trevella, of Rangi Ruru Girls' School, was awarded Best Poem for her entry, To a Sister, while Samantha (Sammy) Hickson, of Middleton Grange School, won Best Lyric Poem for You Just Can't See It.
