July was a slow month for construction contracts in Pittsburgh;
223 permits were issued valued at $23 million, down from $57.7
million in June, according to the Bureau of Building Inspection.
That brought the total for the year to $462.6 million, about half
the $891.1 million for all of 2008. Major projects approved include
the $6.5 million, five-level open parking garage accessory to Consol
Energy Arena, Upper Hill, and $1.7 million for renovation of the
GetGo station at 4924 Baum Blvd., Bloomfield, by Giant Eagle.
One Vision One Life, which works to eliminate violence, leased
3,116 square feet in the Manor Building, 564 Forbes Ave., Downtown.
