Article: Police find driver suspected of hitting Palo Alto High student

Palo Alto police have tracked down a 75-year-old San Jose woman they believe hit a Palo Alto High School student with her car Wednesday afternoon as the 16-year-old student tried to scamper across El Camino Real.

The girl, who police said was trying to run across six lanes of traffic to catch a bus, was lucky to suffer only bumps and bruises, police Agent Dan Ryan said. The driver was not at fault for the accident but could face hit-and-run charges because she left the scene. Ryan did not release her identity Thursday.
