The new will meet the old during a party Tuesday to celebrate the
100th anniversary of Lewis-Gale Medical Center.
The hospital, which began in downtown Roanoke and later moved to
its current Salem location, is using the anniversary as an
opportunity to show off just how far medicine has advanced during
its century of care.
Today Lewis-Gale is a 521-bed medical, surgical and acute-care
hospital owned by the for-profit hospital giant HCA Inc.
Tours are planned of the hospital's most recent advancements in
medical technology. Just this year the hospital has upgraded two
operating rooms to the tune of $3 million. The hospital also
