The other side of the mountain
For years and years, Washburn was at the bottom of the heap in
the MIAA. It didn't take long for Craig Schurig to construct a
program that not only is competitive but a challenger in one of the
best Division II conferences in the nation.
The Ichabods did reach the summit, capturing the MIAA title in
2005. Climbing to the top was tough, but staying on top is even
tougher, which makes the Northwest Missouri State story all the more
impressive.
Washburn is still fighting and clawing to become that consistent
program. The Bods had their fifth consecutive winning season a year
ago, by the slimmest of margins with a 6-5 record, and now they are
