Article: Growing problem addressed ; Eastman School's basement blooms

While the faculty at Eastman School began molding young minds upstairs this week, workers began cleaning up a mold problem down below.

The first three days of classes went on as scheduled and will continue without interruption next week despite mold growth, caused by a recent blend of rain and high humidity.

The basement area, built in 1934, houses a multi-purpose room that includes the cafeteria, a meeting area for art and music classes, closets, a kitchen, and a computer room.

The area will remain closed while a crew dries and cleans the floors and walls. Classes upstairs will not be affected.
