A Londonderry businessman has been disqualified from serving as a
company director after his firm went bust owing almost EUR 500,000
to the taxman in the Republic. John Joseph McCartney (33) of Butlers
Wharf, Enagh, agreed disqualification for five years. He was a
director of VFM Branded Clothing Ltd.
DRINK-RELATED DEATHS 'UP 40% IN A DECADE'
THERE has been a 40% rise in the number of deaths related to
alcohol in the last decade, the Tories have claimed. Data obtained
by shadow Home Office minister James Brokenshire shows that the
number of deaths related to alcohol rose 40% to 7,341 between 1999
and 2008.
