Glendale -- The Plan Commission said no to the city's first business improvement district, with commissioners mainly objecting to the proposed assessment plan for the BID.

An ad hoc committee of businessmen worked for 18 months to develop a business plan and support for a BID south of Hampton Avenue along North Port Washington Road to Capitol Drive. The district had irregular boundaries but would have included some properties to the west along Green Bay Road and most properties east of Port Washington Road to the city limit, a total of 88 parcels.

Brian Monroe, speaking for the committee, said the BID could address goals and concerns of businesses in the area.
