foundation chairman
WELLINGTON, Sept. 1 (Xinhua) -- The election of six Asians as
members of parliament is one of the watershed moments in the
evolution of New Zealand society from a colonial one to a
contemporary pluralistic one, said Asia New Zealand Foundation
chairman on Tuesday.
"The Asian communities have evolved from communities of
historically ethnically defensive enclaves, excluded and
discriminated against, into integrated and fully engaged
participants in all aspects of New Zealand society," Philip Burdon
said at the official launching of "the Asians in Wellington" report
