Article: Amesbury car break-ins on rise

Amesbury

RASH OF CAR BREAK-INS - In the past six weeks police have received reports of 27 motor vehicle break-ins, with the list of stolen items including GPS units, laptop computers, iPods, wallets, and purses. The majority occurred within walking distance of downtown during evening and late-night hours, and almost all of the vehicles were unlocked or not properly secured, officers said. The Police Department reminds residents to lock their vehicles and not leave any valuable property in sight. Residents are encouraged to call police if they observe any suspicious activity.
