Article: Art Deco Festival aboard Queen Mary this weekend

LONG BEACH - Whether it's strolling around in a smoking jacket while watching a silent movie or sitting in on lectures on art deco architecture or the golden age of travel and fashions of the art deco period, the fifth annual Queen Mary Art Deco Festival will have plenty to fill the art deco lover's heart.

About 500 aficionados from across the United States and even Europe are expected to convene on the historic ocean liner Friday through Sunday for a weekend of all things deco.

The event is the brainchild of local historian John Thomas, and if you've been to his house, you know the man knows deco, the festival has grown in scope and interest each year since it premiered in 2005.
