'Aida' is great local performance
I had the privilege of attending Curtain Call's production of
"Aida" recently at the Lisser Theatre in Oakland. Curtain Call is a
new and impressive performing arts organization that is competitive
with many professional theater companies in the Bay Area that is
worth mentioning.
This contemporary musical rapidly swept me away to the Egyptian
kingdom where an unexpected love affair blossoms between a
beautiful, enslaved Nubian princess and an Egyptian captain. The
lovers are faced with cultural differences between their nations
and, ultimately, they must make tough choices about their love for
one another. The story is sweet and yet tragic.
