Hempfield football coach Greg Meisner isn't a stranger to rivalry
games.
He remembers the games against Kiski Area and Highlands when he
was a player at Valley High School. As a collegian at Pitt, he
recalls playing West Virginia and Penn State.
Now, Meisner is part of the Hempfield-Greensburg Salem rivalry.
The teams meet for the 49th time 7:30 p.m. Friday at Bill Abraham
Field at Spartan Stadium.
Hempfield leads the series, 33-14-1, and has won the past eight
meetings, including a forfeit victory in 2002 when Greensburg Salem
used an ineligible player.
