Bangladesh's foreign exchange reserves surpass 9 bln USD

DHAKA, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- Bangladesh's foreign exchange reserves have crossed 9-billion-U.S. dollar mark for the first time after the South Asian country received a substantial amount of fund from the International Monetary Fund (IMF), a senior central bank official said on Wednesday.

"The foreign exchange reserves surged to around 9.18 billion U. S. dollars on Tuesday from 8.53 billion U.S. dollars of the previous day following disbursement of the IMF fund," an official of Bangladesh Bank (BB), who requested to be unnamed as he is not authorized to talk to media, told Xinhua on Wednesday.
