The saying goes, "defense wins championships," and that's exactly
what the 100-pound B Green Hornets football team had in mind during
their season opener against Cape St. Claire last Sunday.
The Hornets held Cape to only 2 yards in a shutout victory, 13-
0, with two rushing touchdowns on Severna Park High School turf.
Most impressive about the Hornet's performance is the players pulled
it off with very little football experience.
"Fourteen of our 18 kids have never played football before, and
for them to be executing the way that they have is a testament to
how hard they work in practice," said coach Chris Kirchenheiter, who
