PETER JACKSON insisted the "look of hatred" from Lincoln City fans in the last days of his reign convinced him his time at Sincil Bank was over.

The former Huddersfield boss was sacked by the Imps earlier this week as he and assistant Iffy Onuora paid the price for recording just two wins in seven games.

Jackson admitted he was still shocked by the speed of his departure which came just a fortnight after a 2-0 win at Bradford left them seventh in the table.

But a 2-0 defeat against Burton just days later ended with him being booed off at the final whistle before the fans called for his head in the 3-0 defeat at Dagenham last weekend.
