Article: Coakley's following lots of footsteps

You heard it here first: Attorney General Martha Coakley, newly christened candidate for US Senate, has turned to US Representative James McGovern to write her campaign speeches.

OK, not really. But a stanza or two of Coakley's announcement speech on Thursday morning, in which she lamented the passing of Edward M. Kennedy and talked of fulfilling his legacy, hewed close to what McGovern had said immediately following Kennedy's death.

On Aug. 26, the day the world learned that the senior senator from Massachusetts had died, McGovern issued a statement saying: "No one can ever fill his shoes. But we can, and must, follow in his footsteps."
