Too bad there's not a "Madden 1925" video game on the market.
Maybe then the under-30 crowd could appreciate the greatness of a
true football pioneer.
We're not talking about Brett Favre, either.
Harold "Red" Grange sent shock waves through college football in
1924. The University of Illinois All-American ran for four
touchdowns in the first 12 minutes against powerful Michigan, a
dizzying performance that has never been duplicated. Grange later
turned pro and played for the Chicago Bears, helping usher in the
National Football League as a spectator sport.
The black-and-white clips of Grange scampering across the
Memorial Stadium turf shows why he was called "The Galloping Ghost."
