UPDATED 8:40 p.m. Bakery magnate and developer John Paterakis
reached a plea agreement with State Prosecutor Robert A. Rohrbaugh
on July 29, the day after he was indicted for violating campaign
finance laws by splitting the cost of a political poll for City
Councilwoman Helen L. Holton with developer Ronald H. Lipscomb.
But that news was not announced until Friday afternoon, when
Paterakis, dressed in muted green and brown and using a wheeled
walker, appeared in Baltimore City Circuit Court for his scheduled
arraignment.
The 80-year-old son of a Greek immigrant family whose bakery has
supplied McDonald's and whose money has shaped state politics and
the Baltimore skyline alike pleaded guilty ...
