EAST HAVEN -- Mayor April Capone Almon was arrested Friday
morning and charged with interfering with a police officer, to which
she said she will plead not guilty when she appears in court later
this month.
The arrest comes in the wake of a July 19 incident at the town
beach in which Capone Almon and her secretary, Erica Berg,
countermanded a police officer's order that cars be towed from the
parking lot because they were blocking other vehicles and the
entrance. Berg was also arrested Friday and faces the same charges
at Capone Almon.
"Obviously, I'm very disappointed in what happened today and that
