In France's pantheon of famous wine regions, Champagne, Bordeaux
and Burgundy reign supreme. And while other areas such as the Rhone
Valley, Loire Valley, Beaujolais and Alsace hold their own, the vast
southern region of Languedoc-Roussillon does not enjoy ready
recognition with many consumers.
Beginning later this month and throughout October, the region's
producers hope to heighten awareness of their diverse wines,
delicious foods and ancient culture with the Festival Sud de France
(www.festival-suddefrance.com/ny ). Wine tastings, cooking
demonstrations, lectures and winemaker dinners taking place
