Walmart remains the largest private-sector employer in West
Virginia for the 11th year in a row, according to an annual list
compiled by WorkForce West Virginia.
According to the company's Web site, Walmart has 12,429 employees
in the state - 848 fewer than the company reported last year.
Nevertheless, it's enough to keep the world's largest retailer in
the top spot - a position it has held since 1998.
West Virginia University Hospitals/United Hospitals ranks No. 2
on the list while Charleston Area Medical Center ranks No. 3. Both
health care providers have held those positions since 2006.
Kroger ranks No. 4 - a position the big grocery retailer has held
since 2003.
