A plan to give older adults the freedom of remaining independent in their homes instead of moving into assisted living centers began 15 years ago by a nonprofit group called Partners In Care.

The group will celebrate its continuing growth and success with a birthday celebration from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Saturday at the Chartwell Country Club, 1 Chartwell Drive in Severna Park.

"As a founder, it is a gift to be able to see a program grow from a couple of dozen people to many hundreds who all have the best interests of their neighbors at heart," said Barbara Huston, president and CEO of Partners in Care Maryland.
