Article: AVS CEO earned it

In response to the story "Allegheny Valley president: School's sale led to $3 million in deferred compensation" and the editorial "Not 'okel-dokel'" (Aug. 30, Sept. 2 and TribLIVE.com), about the 2008 compensation of Allegheny Valley School CEO Regis Champ, the facts are as follows: Over the past 37 years, Mr. Champ built AVS into a nationally renowned leader in the care of children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In 2007, AVS approved a retirement plan for Champ that was long overdue.
