A bone infection that went undetected resulted in a settlement of $126,732 for the plaintiff.

Periodontist Dr. Valerie McDavid treated Carl Allen Pollock Jr. in Jefferson City for a number of dental issues over a period of several months. As part of the treatment, McDavid removed two of Pollock's teeth, several months apart.

The extraction site failed to heal properly and became infected. The infection worsened and developed into a dangerous bone infection known as osteomyelitis, which spreads the bone via blood. It can lead to a loss of blood supply to the affected bone and eventual death of the bone tissue.
