Most striking about the lists of largest employers in Kanawha and
Putnam counties this year is how little they've changed.
Charleston Area Medical Center, also known as CAMC, remains the
largest employer in Kanawha County, according to the Top 10 list
compiled annually by WorkForce West Virginia. It's a position CAMC
has maintained every year since 2002, when it knocked the Kanawha
County Board of Education out of the top spot.
The health care provider - which is the third-largest employer in
the state - currently has 6,577 employees, CAMC spokesman Dale Witte
said on Monday.
The school board is Kanawha County's second-largest employer. The
