What do professional rugby players do when their playing careers
are over? In the Waikato, you can find them selling real estate,
teaching secondary students and running a bar and restaurant,
reports Nikki Preston.

PLAYING FOR KEEPS
* 25 per cent of professional rugby players have tertiary
qualifications.
* 15 per cent have a trade qualification.
* 34 per cent are studying either part or fulltime, about 305
are working either full or part-time outside of rugby.
* 88 per cent are actively seeking to develop a career outside
of rugby.
* There are 600 professional rugby players in New Zealand - 100
