Lester A.D. Adams can keep his license to practice law, even
though a federal judge found he falsely signed and notarized
documents in order to buy a house for his girlfriend and their
daughter.
Adams, who had been indefinitely suspended in 1998 for
mismanaging his client trust account, regained his law license in
April 2007. At the time, litigation was pending over title to the
house, which Adams claimed was actually his.
Three months later, U.S. District Judge Deborah K. Chasanow ruled
against Adams in the lawsuit over the house, saying he was "not
credible" and made up testimony "out of whole cloth" when confronted
with inconsistencies on the stand.
