Historic churches secure cash to repair ancient headstones
TWO of Edinburgh's oldest and most iconic churches are to have
their graveyards restored to protect ancient stones from falling
into further disrepair.
St John's and Greyfriars have secured a combined GBP 12,000 in
funding from Edinburgh World Heritage to allow the specialist
projects to begin next month.
More than 50 headstones and memorials will be tackled in the
month-long operation, many of which are cracked, flaking or damaged
by graffiti.
