Article: Three million dollar settlement reached in Forward coal ash slide

A $3 million settlement will pay 25 residents and the state for damages and clean-up due to a 2005 collapse of a coal ash embankment and related 2006 subsidence in Forward, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection announced today.

The agreement resolves all litigation in connection with the ash slide. The state will receive $1.8 million for clean-up costs and monitoring and the rest will go to residents on or near Rostosky Road for compensation and damages.
