Marijn E. Dekkers, who created the world's largest supplier of
laboratory equipment with the merger of Thermo Electron and Fisher
Scientific, is moving on to become chief executive of German
conglomerate Bayer AG, the company said yesterday.
Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. immediately promoted the company's
number two executive, chief operating officer Marc N. Casper, to
replace Dekkers as chief executive, effective Oct. 15. Casper, a
former management consultant who previously ran Kendro Laboratory
Products, has been part of Thermo's management team for eight years
and operating chief since May 2008.
