BUSINESS IN BRIEF
Natural gas bill to go down this winter
WALTHAM - National Grid's 820,000 natural gas customers in the
state can expect a significant drop in their heating bills this
winter. The utility company, which acquired KeySpan two years ago,
is asking state regulators to approve new rates that would take
effect from Nov. 1 through April 30 and bring average bills down by
about 10 percent compared to the last heating season. That
translates into savings of nearly $25 a month, or $150, over the
course of the six-month season. The lower rates reflect the
continuing decline in the wholesale prices of natural gas.
