Patients of some doctors in the Latrobe area may be asked to test
a vaccine for the H1N1 virus, or swine flu.
A medical research center in Latrobe is one of 24 sites
nationwide hosting federally funded studies to determine the safety
of the vaccine.
CSL Biotherapies, headquartered in King of Prussia, recently
announced the start of the company's first clinical trials of the
potential vaccine, said company spokeswoman Sheila Burke.
"This clinical trial program is part of a larger, global effort
by CSL Biotherapies, in partnership with government and regulatory
bodies, to bring an Influenza A/H1N1 vaccine to market in the United
