Article: Air Force, New Mexico kick off '09 MWC season

CHEYENNE - Mike Locksley didn't envision the start of his first college head coaching job to be like this.

The first-year New Mexico coach has watched his team start 0-2 and be outscored 85-16.

The Lobos are ranked at or near the bottom in nearly every offensive and defensive category in the Mountain West Conference.

They've scored just one touchdown and given up 11, along with 547.5 yards per game.

New Mexico opens MWC play with a home game against Air Force (1- 1) Saturday.

"I'm disappointed in how we've played, and not just the fact we lost our first two games," Locksley said during Monday's MWC coaches teleconference.
