Prime lambs rose $3 to $4 in the lighter to medium weights at livestock sales at Canterbury Agricultural Park, in Christchurch, this week.

Few store lambs were presented and they sold on a par with last week, with the best lambs making $90 to $109.

Prime ewes were unchanged, with heavy ewes making $72 to $80.

Prime cattle prices were up between 5c/kg and 7c/kg because of more buying interest in better-quality cattle. Steers made between 178c/kg and 188c/kg, with sales to 194c/kg.

Values: Prime lambs met strong demand again this week. Light to medium weights improved by $3 to $4. Fewer cull stud lambs were yarded and they peaked at $140.
